This ancient therapeutic art has been practiced throughout Asia for thousands of years. When it was first practiced it was referred to as "horn therapy", because they used a cattle horn to perform the treatment. Nowadays, we have many variations including the most common: glass cups, rubber cups, and plastic pump sets.
How it's done? Which ever method is used (glass, rubber or plastic), a negative pressure is created inside the cup either by burning the oxygen with a flame, or by sucking the air out with a pump. As seen in the picture to the right, this causes the tissue to be drawn up into the cup. The cups are then left in place for 5 - 20 minutes.
